Aminés second studio album Limbo, released in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, touched on the country’s growing racial tensions, the death of Kobe Bryant and the artist’s own. Later in the album, throwback vibes are rampant on “Zack & Cody (feat. Rapper/director/innovative artist, Amine, moves culture forward for Portlands music scene. Clean,” in which Aminé faces off with production from Pi’erre Bourne (a powerhouse associated with names like Lil Uzi Vert and Travis Scott) and culminates to another catchy chorus. Amine was once seen, to me at least, as a one hit wonder with a goofy, somewhat annoying track Caroline. Serving as co-executive producer alongside Pasqué in the project, Aminé’s new tracks yet again prove many times over his carefully cultivated lyricism, paying sharp attention to fine-tuned beats with slick, smooth vocals. The 5x platinum-certified artists crashed the Billboard Top 200 with his release of the project, and today, Republic Records has dropped seven bonus tracks to go alongside the rest of the album. In melding traditional hip-hop form with just the right amount of modern trap verve, Limbo makes the case for Aminé, if not as the next great rapper, then as a pop-rap workhorse. Amin's debut studio album Good for You was released in July 2017 and peaked at number 31 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Limbois being billed as Amin’s second official album after his sparkling debut, Good For You, with the 2018 project OnePointFivereceiving the fanciful classification of EpLpMixtapeAlbum.
